William "Mr. Bill" Henderson, 76, of Gray, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 following a 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Haddock Baptist Church, with Dr. Ron McClung officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the narthex of the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Bill’s memory to the donor’s choice of charity.
Mr. Bill was born in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Woodrow Ralph Henderson and Nellie Pearl Carter Henderson. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam. He received a Purple Heart due to exposure of Agent Orange. He moved his family to Miami where he worked for the Dade County Sheriff’s Department. He then moved to Georgia where he worked for AT&T for 28 years. After being retired for three days, he began a 10-year tenure with the Department of Defense at Robins Air Force Base.
Mr. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy Henderson; five children, Heather Henderson of Haddock, Heidi Dutton-Henderson (Dan) of Dallas, Georgia, Hopeanne Hanley (Adam) of Canton, Georgia, William Henderson (Stacey) of Gray, and Bethany Rumney (Danny) of Haddock; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Joetta Cummins (Michael); and mother-in-law, Katherine Whinnery of Mulberry, Arkansas.
