William “Bill” Alfred Ussery, Sr., 83, of Seymour, TN, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021. He was born on April 3, 1938, in Macon, Georgia to his parents, Joseph D. Ussery and Esther Lorene Ussery. Bill lived in Macon and Columbus, GA. He was a graduate of Lanier High School Class of 1957, and Southern Technical Institute. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air National Guard and received several accolades. He was a hardworking man with an appreciation for great craftsmanship. Bill formed Leonard-Ussery Construction Company in Macon, GA. He later operated Wood Brothers Construction Company in Knoxville, TN for 40 years as President and ultimately became a Co-Owner. Bill was a member of the Pathfinder Men’s Bible Study Group in Knoxville. He rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized on his 80th birthday. “How many people can say they have been reborn on their 80th birthday?” Bill will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Shone Ussery; parents, Joseph D. and Esther Lorene Ussery; and his sister, Betty Marshall.
Bill is survived by his wife, Brenda Ussery; son, Billy Ussery and wife, Tammy; daughter, Derry Breeden; grandchildren, Ashley Perry (Brandan), Tesha Dotson (Brandon), Tripp Ussery, Krista Grooms (Matthew), and Joe Ussery; great-grandchildren, Destiny Perry, Austyn Perry, Jaxson Perry, Lesha Dotson, Lincoln Dotson, Lakeland Dotson, Grayson Grooms, and Aaron Grooms; and all the extended family members and special friends that Bill touched in his life, especially those he led at Wood Brothers Construction Company.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Joseph D. Ussery Cemetery, 678 Monticello Highway, Gray, Georgia.
