William Gerald Maier, Jr.

William Gerald Maier, Jr., 82, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021.  Funeral services will be private. 

William earned a Bachelor’s degree from Lawrence Technical College.  He began his career in retail at JL Hudson's as a buyer.  Throughout his life, he worked at Higbee’s in Cleveland, Ohio, Joskie's in Houston and Dallas, Texas, Sanger Harris, in Dallas, Texas, Belk's, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Belk Matthew’s in Macon, Georgia.  William loved sports!  In his younger years he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians.  He also loved boating and spending time on Lake Sinclair. 

William is survived by his wife, Susan L. Maier; children, Susan E. Weber, of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert C. Maier (Deanna), of Buford, Georgia, and Barbara Maier (Michael Hinson), of Macon, Georgia: six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings: Sharon Sellers, Gerald Maier (Gwen), Judy Elliott (Dick), Thomas Maier, Carol Grand (Bob), and Rick Maier (Mary). 

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Gerald Maier, Sr. and Florence Hummel Maier.
