Wilbur "Dophie" Wayne Thomas

Wilbur “Dophie” Wayne Thomas, 75, of Gray, passed away on February 23, 2019. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in the Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, 307 Pecan Lane, Gray GA, at 2:00 PM. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  The Reverend Steve Johnson will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bradley Baptist Church, 821 Monticello Hwy, Gray GA, 31032.

Wilbur was born in Dudley, Georgia to the late James Thomas and Mary Fannie Thomas. He was a member of Bradley Baptist Church and the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. Wilbur  retired from Georgia Power with 39 years of service. He enjoyed many hobbies such as; hunting, fishing, race cars and horses but the greatest passion was spending time with his family and friends.

Wilbur is preceded in death by his father, James H. Thomas; mother, Mary Fannie Heath Thomas; brother, James Willard Thomas and son, James Wendall Faulk.

Wilbur is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Brenda Thomas; children, Wendy (Tommy) Thomas Fitzgerald, Dophie Wayne Thomas and Chris Anthony Powell; grandchildren, Britney (Thad) Hartzog, Whitney Jolly, Taylor Fitzgerald, Brooke (Wade) Faulk Powers, Brandon Faulk, Dophie Thomas, II, Kendyl Thomas, Taylor McPherson and Hunter (Becca) Thomas; great grandchildren, Knox, Hayes, Hudson, Kyleigh and Peyton.
