Wendell Lee Bowden, age 77, of Macon, Georgia passed away on August 26, 2021 at West Georgia Hospice.
Wendell was born in January of 1944 to the late Helen Greene Bowden and late Lloyd Alvie Bowden in Gray, Georgia. He grew up in Gray surrounded by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. He graduated from Jones County High School where he was a star student and a star football player. Wendell is a graduate of the University of Georgia (1966) and Walter F George School of Law at Mercer University (1969). He practiced real estate law for 46 years at Martin Snow, LLP and retired at the age of 70 from a profession for which he had a never ending love.
In February of 1974, Wendell married the love of his life, Delbra Carter and together they raised 3 children; Kevin, Neely and Jessica. He had a passion for life and his family and friends which was evident in his everyday life. Wendell is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd; mother, Helen; brother, Billy, and grandson Carter. He is survived by his loving wife, Delbra; son, Kevin (Jamy) Meeks; daughter, Neely Dean; daughter, Jessica Bowden; and his grandchildren Cole, Rylee and Aida, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial service for Wendell will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 12:00pm at Hart's Mortuary in Gray, Georgia with a private, family only, graveside service to follow. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at 11:00am at Hart's Mortuary in Gray, Georgia prior to the service. The family requests that all attendees wear a mask.
