Walter Lee Dudley, Sr., 71, of Macon, entered into rest Friday, March 27, 2020. Due to current health and safety concerns, arrangements will be made for a memorial service at a future date when we can freely unite again and say our final goodbye. There will be a private burial at Riverside Cemetery.
Walter Lee Dudley Sr. was born to the late Mary Carlisle Dudley and Roosevelt Dudley, Oct 12, 1948 in Uniontown, Alabama. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Vietnam as a jet engine mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1971 -1972. He later made his home in Buffalo, New York, where he earned an associate’s degree in business administration at Erie Community College. He worked for many years as a licensed beautician. Though he had many talents, he was very passionate about his work as a craftsman, working in construction and landscaping. He loved to host his family and friends by cooking a delicious meal. He really enjoyed smooth jazz music. He relocated with his wife to Macon, Georgia, where he ended his working career as a Jones County school bus driver. He spent his remaining years retired as a devoted husband.
In July 2011, Walter became dedicated and baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness. He loved to talk to as many people as he could about the Bible and things he learned. His brothers and sisters in faith would say they truly loved him, enjoyed his company, and that he was one of a kind. He was preceded in death by three siblings, David Carlisle, Alfred Dudley Sr, and Miranda Anderson.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 42 years, Dorothy E. Dudley of Macon; four children, Walter Lee Dudley, Jr. (Michelle) of Gray, Georgia, Kimberly Rose Dudley of Cerritos, California, Michael Dudley (Andrea) and Arther Dudley, both of Buffalo, New York; grandchildren, Shardae (James), Shaquille (Chloe), Kalen, Malika, Michon, Paige, Kendall, Cieara (JP), Jai, Chloe, Makai and Mia; two brothers, Roosevelt Dudley (Shirley) of Lithonia, Georgia and Alvin Dudley (Natalie) of Birmingham, Alabama; four sisters, Barbara Dudley of Buffalo, New York, Shirley Cooper of Cleveland, Ohio, Patricia Dudley of Uniontown, Alabama, and Denise Dudley of Prattville, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for their loving-kindness through continued prayers, calls of support and showering of love during this difficult time.
