Vicki was the wife of Henry Avner Jenkins, III and the daughter of the late Jewel Gassett Culpepper and Alvah Joel Culpepper.
As a lifelong resident of Macon, Vicki graduated with honors from Margaret McEvoy High School in 1961. She received her BS in education from the Women’s College of Georgia and taught second and third grades in the Bibb County School System. She pursued a second career, fulfilling her dream of becoming a registered nurse. She graduated with honors from Macon College School of Nursing and worked in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Vicki may have been the best cake baker, but no cake, no matter how delicious, interfered with her daily devotion to God and family. She lived by example, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and preparing communion with her family. These acts, and many more, nurtured her children to live their lives in service to others. Henry and Vicki met in the 10th grade, married in Vicki’s senior year of college. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on the Ides of March. Describing Vicki would be incomplete without mentioning her unparalleled friendships with family and friends- luncheons, cakes, bible studies, pool parties, and peach ice cream.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Henry Avner Jenkins, lll, of Macon; her daughter, Susannah Jenkins, of Washington, DC; her two sons, Hal Jenkins, (Merry) of Asheville, NC, and Andrew Jenkins (Parrish) of Macon; two granddaughters, Peyton Jenkins of Asheville, and Nora Jenkins of Macon; and one grandson, Samuel Jenkins of Asheville. She is also survived by her brother, William Culpepper (Pat) of Charlotte; her sister-in-law, Ruth J. Langsfeld (John) of Atlanta; four nieces, Melanie Culpepper (Chris) of Charlotte, Catherine Obringer of Overland Park, Kansas, Mary Ballschmiede (Ron) of Atlanta, Sarah Langsfeld of Atlanta; five great nieces, Tess Culpepper of Charlotte, Charlotte and Elizabeth Obringer of Overland Park, Annie and Laney Ballschmiede of Atlanta; 2 nephews, Kelly Culpepper (Jane) and Damon Culpepper, both of Charlotte; five great nephews, Lance and Jasper Culpepper of Charlotte and Tripp, Jack and William Obringer of Overland Park; and many cousins.
