Stephen Lawrence Floyd

Macon- Stephen Lawrence Floyd, of Macon passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the age of 96. He was born in Bleckley County but lived in Macon most of his adult life. He was known by family and close friends as "Buddy". He was employed by Sears Department Store as the Maintenance Engineer and retired after twenty-six years. He was also employed by the Bibb County Board of Education where he worked in the Maintenance Department for fifteen years. Buddy was a firm believer in doing the best job possible and was well respected by all who worked with him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Brock, infant son, Steve, father, Thomas Franklin Floyd, mother, Mary Bozeman Floyd, brothers, Emory Floyd, Charles Franklin Floyd and James Alvin Floyd, sister, Helen Floyd Thomas and nephew, James (Billy) Thomas. He is survived by nieces, Dawn Thomas Lokey, Frankie Thomas Meeks, Mary Ann Floyd Langston, Gloria Floyd Wojtaszek, Vickie Floyd Patterson, and nephews, Jimmy Floyd, Danny Thomas, Charles Floyd, Lawrence Floyd, sister-in-law, Billie Dell Floyd, many great-nephews and nieces, and his faithful dog, Sammy. Those who have survived him will have fond memories of his stories of the "good old days", his ability to repair most anything, and his love for and care of family members, and his love of his dogs. The family will receive visitors at Hart's Mortuary on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 2:00PM with Dr. Rob Kestler officiating. Buddy will be laid to rest beside his wife, Mary, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Online register is located at www.hartsmort.com.
