Sgt. William “Bill” Gay, 46, of Macon, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Ingleside Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall. Bill was an investigator with the Macon-Bibb County Sheriff’s Department, where he was employed for over 15 years. He loved fishing, hunting, and classic cars, especially Trans Ams.
Bill is survived by his wife MayAnn Gay of Macon; children, Ashton Dakota Gay, JulieAnn Dixon, Penelope Elizabeth Gay, and William Elijah Gay, all of Macon; brothers, Timothy Lamar Gay (Rieko) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, T.J. Gay, Jr. (Angela) of Franklinton, Louisiana, and Timothy Lamar Gay, Jr., (Ali) of Franklinton; sister, Tina Lynn Gay of Franklinton, Louisiana; parents, Tim and Linda Gay of Franklinton, Louisiana; parents-in-law, Bill and Susan Copley of Macon; grandfather, Louie Deese of Altha, Florida; aunt, Melanie Ann Tatum of Altha, Florida; brothers-in-law, Waylon Copley of Asheville, North Carolina, Max Copley of Macon, and Wade Copley of Syracuse, New York; best friend, Scott Chapman of Macon; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
