She was a librarian for several years at Mark Smith High School and Jonesco Academy before returning to nursing. She worked at the Macon Volunteer Clinic for over ten years until 2007. She was a volunteer in the Clothing Bank and Outreach. Ruth was an active participant in her children and grandchildren's school and summer activities; including all sports, ballet and summer swim lessons. Favorite hobbies included art, music, singing, reading, dancing, sports and gardening. Ruth and Bud traveled with friends to Europe, United States and Canada; including several cruises.
