Roy Prentice Freeman, 68, of Gray, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, after a nine-year battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior.
Mr. Freeman met his wife on a blind date and was happily married for 44 years. After serving in the National Guard, he worked at Proctor and Gamble and ADM before becoming self-employed as an Infrared Thermographer. He has been enjoying retirement for the past three years with his wife. He enjoyed spending time with his boxer, Peach, working on his land, gardening, and driving his tractors. Mr. Freeman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son, who devoted his life to loving his family, friends, and the Lord. Mr. Freeman was a member of Northridge Baptist Church for over fifty years.
He is survived by his wife, Lavane Paramore Freeman; children, Lessie Burnley (Steve), and Russell Freeman (Brooke); five grandchildren, Seth Freeman, Grant Burnley, Harleigh Freeman, Brooklyn Freeman, and Dallas Freeman; siblings, Angelia Freeman and Joellen Henson. Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Freeman and Beulah Freeman.
