A native of Macon, Robie was born March 11, 1940 to George Edward and Theresa Robider Markwalter.  One of his most proud achievements was earning the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction held as well by his other three brothers.  He graduated from Lanier High and continued to his beloved Georgia Tech where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta.  He graduated from Mercer University in 1963 and the Walter F. George School of Law in 1966.  He enjoyed a lifelong career primarily in sole practice in Macon.

His life was filled with a large circle of friends, especially through active membership in the Elks Club. He enjoyed golf and was proud of two holes-in-one.  An avid reader, his vocabulary boosted his mastery of any crossword puzzle, always with his cherished dog Chloe at his side.  He was an active member in the Lion’s Club and served as Chair of Parish Council of St Joseph’s Church and the boards of St Joseph’s School and Mount de Sales Academy. He also enjoyed his time coaching in the Youth Recreational Football Program for Bibb County.

Robie adored his wife of 35 years, Rebecca Calvert Markwalter, and together they enjoyed many years of travel and spending time at their home on Lake Sinclair, along with their Buoy Club friends.  He cherished time spent with his two loving daughters, their spouses and six grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, John Raphael Markwalter (Ellen).

Survivors include his wife Rebecca, daughters Allison Markwalter King (Scott) of Savannah and Blythe Markwalter Koplin (Henry) of Macon.  Brothers George Edward Markwalter, Jr. (Lucy) of Macon and Richard Eugene Markwalter (Maria) of Satellite Beach, FL.  Grandchildren Robert Thacker King, Edward Brennen Hamilton, Margaret Elizabeth Hamilton, Adam Robider King, Katherine Alexandra Hamilton and Thomas Branton King. And several nieces, nephews and grand- nieces and nephews.

Also survived by sisters-in-law, Jean Calvert Britt (Grady) and Mary Lynn Calvert Harwell (Ray); Brothers-in-law, Vaughn Calvert (Donna) and David Calvert (Rana).
