Robert Harold Swan, Jr., aged 75, passed away on September 6, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. Born in Biltmore, N.C. on March 3, 1948, to Robert and Agnes Swan, he was a loving parent and grandparent to his children and grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Bob had an unwavering dedication to God, country, and family. Bob was a strong Christian who loved the Lord. His kindness touched the lives of countless individuals.
As a young man, Bob enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam War where he worked as a B-52 missile systems technician at Kincheloe Air Force Base and Robins Air Force Base. After his time in the military, he worked for Georgia Power’s Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, GA as a Quality Control Specialist and later worked in the Industrial Sales Industry in Charlotte, North Carolina.
When not immersed in his work, Bob found joy in reading and watching old movies. He was an avid reader, finding joy in reading the Bible, Westerns, and Science Fiction. Bob was also known for his sense of humor, making him a cherished presence in social gatherings.
Family and friends will forever remember Bob for his loyalty, laughter, and generosity. His warmth and compassion touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bob’s departure is mourned deeply by his loved ones, including his children, Becky Brown (Scott) and Tim Swan (Stacy); grandchildren, Erin and Sophie Brown; brother, Stephen Swan (Petra); and nephews, Duane Swan and Stephen Swan (Deanna). He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his grandson, Scott Brown.
A memorial service to honor Bob’s life will be held on September 11 at 12:00 p.m., at Hart’s Chapel at the Cupola. Interment will follow the service at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Bob’s memory.
