Robert “Bob” Felts, 78, of Macon, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021. The family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola.
Bob was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on October 28, 1943, to the late William Edward Felts and Nell Winford Bridgers Felts. He moved with his family to Rocky Mountain, North Carolina, and graduated from Rocky Mountain High School. He attended the University South Carolina for one year before joining the U.S. Navy. He proudly served on the submarine USS Trigger attack sub as the head of the communications center during the Vietnam war. He asked and received permission from commander to write a newsletter for the crew with current events and sporting news. After serving in the Navy, he attended Georgia Tech University and was offered a job with Air Traffic Control. In 1974 he met the love of his life, Brenda, on the tennis courts of Saint Simons Island. Together they moved to Macon in 1987, so that he could start his career in Air Traffic Control. Bob loved music and he was a great singer. He was the 2011 Snooker champion and won trip to Las Vegas.
Bob is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughters, Leigh Ann Allen (William) and Kerry Munn (Rick), both of Brunswick, Georgia; son, Kirk Woodham Knox (Kelly), of Brunswick, Georgia; grandchildren, Woodham "Woody" Kennedy (Lindsay), of Summerville, South Carolina, Matthew Williams, of Savannah, Georgia, Jordan and Jericho Allen, of Brunswick, Georgia, Katie Hammock (Kyle), of Harrison, Georgia, and Kylie Knox, of Brunswick, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Asher Allen, of Brunswick, Georgia, and Harper and Theo Hammock, of Harrison, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Edward Felts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s honor to American Cancer Society, Northminster Presbyterian Church general fund, or the Wounded Warriors Project.
A memorial service in Saint Simons Island will be held at a later date.
