Born on November 17, 1939, in Macon, Georgia, to Robert Denson Martin Sr. and Margaret Murphey Martin, Denson lived a life of service and accomplishment. He met his beloved wife, Nancy Elizabeth Chappell, while attending Lanier High School, and they were married in 1962. They remained happily married for 58 years until her passing in 2020. A dedicated patriot, Denson served his country with three tours of duty in the United States Army, flying helicopters in Vietnam. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Georgia, following his education at Mercer University. His professional career spanned various industries, including roles at Hughes Aircraft and Register Rubber. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, Denson furthered his education by pursuing an Executive MBA from Georgia State University. Later in his career, he transitioned to real estate, becoming a successful land broker in North Georgia.

Denson and Nancy settled in Dahlonega in 1992, where they joined the Dahlonega Methodist Church. Over the years he became an integral member of the community. Always active in the Rotary Club, his enthusiasm continued in Dahlonega long after he retired. He joined the Board of Trustees of the Lumpkin County Library and helped expand the facilities during his tenure. Denson was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by his sons: Robert Denson Martin III and his wife Cindy, Richard Shawn Martin and his wife Jennifer, and William Mathew Martin and his wife Shannon. He will be deeply missed by his seven grandchildren: Laurel, Caroline, Denson, Robyn, Lucia, Will, and Callum.
