Robert “Bubber” Leaston Greenway, Jr., 91, of Macon, sadly, passed away in a loving and peaceful manner, Sunday, May 23, 2021. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Fran Magoni officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. At the request of the family, burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church, 500 Bass Rd., Macon, GA 31210 or to the charity of choice.
Son of the late Robert Leaston Greenway, Sr. and Marie Favors Greenway, Bubber grew up in Willingham Mill Village in Macon. After graduating from Lanier High School, Bubber married his high school sweetheart, Dolly, whom he met on a blind date. Coming home from the Korean War, Bubber joined his father in the family business, Greenway Paint and Body Shop. He had several careers during his lifetime, even working while in his 80s as a bailiff in the Bibb County Courthouse. Bubber was a founding member of Cherokee Heights for the children’s outreach ministry. He attended Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church. Enjoying life to the fullest, always having a purpose for each day, he was a man of integrity, with love for his family and friends. He was a man of strong faith in his Lord and Savior. Bubber was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Dolly Mae Syrios Greenway.
Bubber leaves behind his son, Robert Andrew Greenway of Macon, and daughter, Lisa Greenway Degner of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
