Rita Thompson Peed

Rita Thompson Peed, 75, of Macon, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Vineville Baptist Church, with Dr. Richard Kremer officiating.  Visitation will follow the service in the Church sanctuary.  Interment will be private at Riverside Cemetery.  Flowers will be appreciated, and memorial contributions may be made to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Ave. Macon, GA 31204.

Daughter of the late Clyde Bernard and Florrie Gurr Thompson, Mrs. Peed was a member of Vineville Baptist Church.  She attended A.L. Miller High School and retired from AT&T.  She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Salvation Army.

Mrs. Peed is survived by her sister, Elaine Everhardt of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; son-in-law, Bobby Whitaker of Macon; nephew, Brandon Everhardt (Kelly) of Toronto, Canada; niece, Brooke Stafford of Hoover, Alabama; and great nieces and nephews, Luke Everhardt, Sarah Jane Everhardt, Bishop Stafford, Kyzer Stafford, and Koston Stafford.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peed was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Joel T. Peed and her daughter, Claire Elisabeth Peed Whitaker.
