Rebecca Corley Donovan, 96, of Macon, Georgia, died Saturday, June 20, 2020. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Creede Henshaw will officiate. The service will be private due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that who wish may make memorial gifts to Mulberry United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 149, Macon, GA, 31202 or the donor’s preferred charity.
Born in Martin, Tennessee, Donovan was the daughter of the late Claude and Anna Lee Corley. She is a graduate from Martin High School and the University of Tennessee in 1945. She was a teacher in Bibb County schools for four years at Whittle grammar school and 26 years at Miller Junior High School. She was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Solomon Fellowship Class and the Joy class. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, William Donovan, Jr., her three sisters, and a brother.
She is survived by her son, William R. Donovan (Joy) of Greenville, South Carolina; niece, Cheryl Lewis (Sam) of Macon, Georgia; nephews, Andy Lowrey (Dee) of Memphis, Tennessee and David Griggs (Rita) of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Bryce Donovan (Kristen) of Charleston, South Carolina, Brandon Donovan of Jacksonville, Florida, Weston Donovan of Greenville, South Carolina, Jason McCraw (Lori) of Taylors, SC, Katie Perez (Oscar) of Taylors, SC, and Kristyn Gizzi of Taylors, South Carolina; great grandchildren, River and Isla Donovan of Charleston, South Carolina; and her special friends, Margie Hughes, Linda Browne and Bill Stembridge.
