Son of the late William Raymond and Mary Sue Rozier Sargent, Mr. Sargent was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a boilermaker for most of his life and a member of the Boilermaker Local 26.
Aristotle said, “Knowledge is the beginning of wisdom.” Mr. Sargent had this in abundance and passed it on through his family and friends. There wasn’t a problem he couldn’t fix. Did your car need repairs, do you have A/C problems, is your roof leaking, anything under the sun he can fix. He didn’t just fix it but shared the reason for the issue and how to handle it in the future. Anyone who grew up watching MacGyver wished they had someone with that kind of knowledge and ingenuity. Well, we had Raymond Sargent! His sons-in-law could attest that if something wasn’t working “Let me call Daddy” was quickly mentioned in the conversation by one of his daughters. This was a testament to the vast amount of know-how he had. Always toiling away at one project after another, he worked more hours than someone with a full-time job.
Mr. Sargent is survived by his wife, Toni Sargent of Gray; daughters, Danielle Barton (Geoffrey), Angie Duncan (Devon), and Sunni Kiser (Bernard); grandchildren, Devin Ray (Jessica), Devin Scott, Destiny, Rachel, Andrew, Trent Man, Maryssa, Olivia, Lexi (Wyade), Laci (Ryan); and 1 great grandchild on the way; honorary son, Tim Wood (Michele); honorary grandchildren, Nat Nat, Gracie, Ander, and Everly; brother, Gary Sargent; sister, Shirley Phillips; and his beloved dog, Dub, aka, Tripod.
