Melvin Colbert Miller, 72, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Fall Line Church, 2254 Rocky Creek Road, Macon, Georgia 31206. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Melvin was born in Roberta, Georgia on June 23, 1951. He graduated from Crawford County High School and was a member of the Upward Bound Program at Mercer University. In 1987, Melvin began a cherished career at Idle Hour Country Club. Over the span of 33 years, his work ethic and contagious personality left a lasting impression on all those he encountered.
As a man of faith, Melvin deeply served Fall Line Church for many years as an elder and dedicated church board of trustees member. His commitment to a healthy lifestyle was reflected in his daily 5-mile walks. Not only were these walks a testament to his physical strength, but also his spiritual devotion as he metaphorically walked with the Lord each day.
Melvin's creativity shined not only through his fulfilling work but also through his time as a radio DJ in the 70s, and more recently in the kitchen, where he delighted family and friends with his exquisite cooking talents. A life well-lived, Melvin Colbert Miller's legacy will continue to inspire through the countless hearts he touched.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Kike Miller of Macon, Georgia; daughters, Lola Oyenuga Aborishade (Sunday) of Atlanta, Georgia, Wande Kotun Davis (Antonio) of Baltimore, Maryland, and Christina Miller (Anthony) of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Imani Aborishade, Aazili Davis, and Cody Smith; mother, Marilyn Miller Johnson; four sisters, three brothers, countless nieces and nephews, and a host of mentees.
