Mary Kight Braswell, 95, of Macon, died January 6, 2021. Private graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery with Dr. Richard Kremer officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vineville Baptist Church Endowment Fund, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon, GA 31204.
Mrs. Braswell, born in Lyons, Georgia to the late James Alvie Kight and Alice Williamson Kight, was a graduate of Soperton High School. She and her late husband, Hoyt Vinson Braswell Sr., ran Hoyts' Market for approximately 25 years. She worked for many years as an election precinct worker. A Christian woman, Mrs. Braswell was a longtime member of Vineville Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She worked at the church nursery and the preschool for 30 years. She raised numerous children, not including her own. It was a common occurrence to have former children from the church to approach her saying they were thankful for all she did for them growing up. Her many hobbies included doing needle work, gardening, working with flowers, putting together puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her son, Hoyt Vinson Braswell, Jr.
Mrs. Braswell is survived by her daughter, Susan Thomas (Walt) of Macon; son, Jimmy Braswell (Helen) of Macon; four grandchildren, Jeffery Stanton (Liz) of Macon, Joshua Thomas (Jessica) of Smith Station, Alabama, Eric Braswell of Macon, and Brittany Johnson (Patrick) of Macon; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Heath of Adrian, Georgia; Randy Davis who was like a son to her; and her favorite cat, Louise.
