Marion Wade “Toot” Mixon of Macon, Georgia passed away on October 14, 2021. She was born in Macon, the daughter of the late Marion Phelps Wade and Elizabeth Rowell Wade. Mrs. Mixon attended Alexander IV Elementary School and was a graduate of A.L. Miller High School and Wesleyan College.
Mrs. Mixon was a lifelong member of Vineville United Methodist Church where she loved serving in various roles. She was a beloved teacher to many children in Macon and was a member of the original faculty of First Presbyterian Day School. Mrs. Mixon enjoyed a teaching career of over 30 years in the community.
Mrs. Mixon was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She cherished family time, holidays, and beach time. She was adored by her family and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Mixon is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Arthur Thomas Mixon, Sr.; her son, Arthur Thomas (Dimy) Mixon, Jr. of Atlanta; daughters, Wade Mixon Putnal and Elizabeth Rowell Mixon both of Macon; grandchildren, Mixon Putnal (Hayden) Jahn of Chattanooga, TN, Gregory William Putnal, Jr. of Macon, Arthur Thomas Mixon III of Dallas, TX and Garrett Mixon (Chandler) Rountree of Atlanta; her sister, Carolyn Wade Barry; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mixon was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gregory William Putnal; her sister, Elizabeth Wade Howard; and brother, George Phelps Wade.
The family wishes to thank Mrs. Mixon’s caregiver, Mrs. Ruthie Bentley, for her compassion and friendship.
A private graveside service for family will be held in Riverside Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Asbell officiating.
