Lawrence “Alfie” Zebarth Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence Alfred “Alfie” Zebarth, age 81, of Macon, Georgia announces his passing April 11, 2023.  A funeral service will be held Friday, April 21, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. John R. Johnson officiating.  Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Al grew up in White Lake, Ontario, Canada with a lifestyle very different from today's standards. The farm living initially did not afford the luxuries to which today's society has grown accustomed, e.g. no electricity, no indoor plumbing, wood box stoves, and kitchen ranges.  However, the Zebarth family are rich in memories: the milking of cows, the drawing in of hay, playing in the barns, participating in wood bees and grain threshing’s, collecting eggs in the morning, picking potatoes, attending a 2-room country school, working on cars, and participating in the many family meals and visiting their many cousins.

As Al got older, the idea of living in a warm climate prompted his moving south to the United States from a cartographic job with the Government of Canada to first Air Survey, then Triple A maps and finally, National Geographic.  This allowed him to fulfill his dream of owning a Corvette.   Al had a successful career at the National Geographic Society as a cartographer artist and was involved with electronic design and map production.

During retirement, Al remained busy owning, managing, and renting multi-family units until his passing.  As a devout Catholic, Al attended weekly mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Macon.

Al is survived by his loving family of one daughter, Pamela (Tobi); three granddaughters, Brittney (John), Lauren, and Samantha; one great granddaughter, Delilah; seven siblings, Leo (Nora), Alice (Robert), Joan (Martin), Rita (John, deceased), Joseph Anthony (Leslie), James (Dorene), Bernard (Donna); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Al is preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Zebarth, parents, Joseph Augustus (Anna), and his brother, Joseph Jerome.
