Juanita Emelie (Maddox) Hopper

Juanita Emelie Hopper, 77, of Fort Valley, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023. A Memorial service will be held Monday, January 23, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Harmony Community Church, 3085 Housers Mill Rd., Byron, GA 31008. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Promise of Hope Inc., PO Box 321 Dudley, GA 31022.

Ms. Juanita Hopper’s hobbies included watching the Atlanta Braves, arts and crafts, wood working, fishing, playing cards, daily conversations with her sisters, listening to gospel music, collecting snowmen, and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.

Daughter of the late Oscar and Laura Maddox, Ms. Juanita Hopper was born in Providence, Rhode Island but grew up in Middle Georgia with her four sisters.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Juanita Hopper was preceded in death by her son, Richard “Ricky” Hopper, and sisters, Joan Williams and Shirley Gilder. Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Moore, granddaughters Candy Smith (Dallas), Christi Prince, and Brandi Hopper, sisters Jean Tuck (Charlie) and Emelie Lord, and great-grandchildren, Gracie, Jackson, Adelyn, Mabry, Maggie and Moseley. Ms. Juanita Hopper cherished many other meaningful relationships including nieces, nephews, and devout friends.
