John Alan Hudson, M.D, made his peaceful transition at home with his wife by his side on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
John was known for his cheerful demeanor, generosity, kindness, and his great sense of humor. He was not only a professional mentor but was also an incredible mentor to his family. He taught his sons and grandchildren to always be willing to seek out new ideas, experiences, and hobbies. He immersed himself in everything from the depths of Scuba diving to the heights of piloting. He also enjoyed poetry, fly fishing, and considered himself a wine connoisseur.
Son of the late William O. Hudson and Madge Cain Yeager, John was born in Bremen, Georgia on March 26, 1941, where he began an incredible life of accomplishment and impact. He was often referred to as the “physician’s physician.” His greatest love was his work as a hospital physician and teacher. He graduated from University of Missouri, Columbia Medical School and went on to serve as a physician in the US Navy before moving into a private practice in southern California and Carrollton, Georgia. He later moved to Macon, Georgia where he served in various roles at the Medical Center of Central Georgia and at Mercer University for 40 years. He educated and mentored so many in the local medical community who today continue to have a positive impact on countless patients’ lives.
John is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia “Pat” Hudson, sons, Clinton Cain (Elisa), Brett Alan (Lisa), and Joshua Aaron; grandchildren: Kara Floersch (A.J.), Clayton, Brooke, Michelle, and Katherine; great grandson, Hudson Floersch; and sister, Patrice Gonya.
