JoAnn Todd Caldwell, 74, of Macon, GA, died peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Piedmont Hospital in Macon, GA. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Vineville Baptist Church. Dr. Richard Kremer will officiate. The family will greet friends after the memorial service in the activity center.
JoAnn was born in Denver, Colorado, on September 30, 1947, to Delbert “Bud” Todd and Vivian Fowler Todd. She was a member of a loyal military family who lived in many states and countries.
Mrs. Caldwell taught school for over thirty years in the private and public schools of Bibb County. She loved teaching and very proudly watched her students learn and grow. She was Teacher of the Year at Union Elementary School in 2000-2001.
The focus of her life was always God and her family. She was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and the Wil Platt Sunday School Class. Studying the Bible, singing old hymns, and going to church were all meaningful and satisfying parts of her life.
Her loving family included her husband of 53 years, two children and their spouses, and five grandchildren.
Her hobbies of quilting, cooking, and reading went beyond just being hobbies. She was always ready to cook for others in times of grief or celebration. And it made her so happy to make a quilt for her grandchildren and for her dear friends.
Serving and helping others gave her so much pleasure and happiness in life. A few of these activities that gave her joy and love: walking on the beach with her husband; quilting with Karen and friends at Birdhouse Quilts; reading to Harris and Carson; doing FaceTime with Annie; going to Jack and Henry’s lacrosse matches; playing cribbage with Henry; cooking with Mark; shopping with Molly; talking on the phone with Mark and Molly about everything in the world; “daily” trips to Talbots with Cathy; and biyearly summit meetings with college friends, Bob, Joy, Eddie, and Denise.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Larry Caldwell; daughter, Molly (John); son, Mark (Katie); grandchildren: Jack Tuite, Henry Tuite, Annie Tuite, Carson Caldwell, and Harris Caldwell; and Callie, her cuddly sofa companion.
