Jewell Crooms Byrd

Jewell Crooms Byrd, 94, of Macon, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022.  Visitation will be held Monday, May 16, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. immediately followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street Chapel with the Reverend Kim Washburn officiating.  Burial will be held at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenwood Baptist Church, 3400 Gray Hwy, Gray, GA 31032.

Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of the late Frank Emanuel and Blanche Balkcom Crooms. She was an excellent cook.  She was an avid walker and runner and placed in her age group in the local Labor Day Road Race.  When she was able, she was very active in Greenwood Baptist Church.  She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Julian Russell Byrd.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by her daughters, Debbie Long and Cheryl Lee, both of Macon; grandchildren, Wendi Lowrimore (Tim) and Julie Till (Cal); step grandson, Patrick Lee; great grandchildren, Olivia, Annaleigh and Nikolas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
