Jerry Philip Blanks

Jerry Philip Blanks passed away due to complications following a stroke on August 10th, 2021, near his home in Jacksonville, Florida.  The graveside memorial service for family only will take place at Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, September 4th at 10:00 AM, followed by a celebration of Phil's life for friends and family at 185 Cory Drive, Macon, Georgia. People attending are respectfully requested to wear a mask or to have been vaccinated against COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to The Billfish Foundation at Billfish.org, or to your favorite nautical organization. 
He was born on February 28th, 1948, to John Randolph Sr. and Elizabeth (Williams) Blanks. He graduated from Lanier Senior High School in Macon, Georgia in 1966.  He attended Georgia Southern University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1970.
Phil was happiest while fishing and loved to share stories and photos of his latest catch.  He was an avid golfer whose happiest day on the golf course was when he shot his age at 73! He was also passionate about the business world and was happy to dispense economic wisdom to the younger generations in the family.  He had a contagious smile and a dry wit, and he will be very greatly missed.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, John Randolph Sr., and his mother, Elizabeth. He is survived by his daughter Laura Blanks Waddell and her husband John, his brothers John Randolph Jr. and Oscar Winchester Lowe, his sister Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.
