James Andrew Holmes, 79, of Macon passed away January 12, 2021. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Hart’s at the Cupola Chapel, with Dr. Lee Sheppard and Bob Walk officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. The service will be live-streamed on the Hart’s Mortuary Facebook page.
James was born March 14, 1941 in Aitkin, Minnesota to the late James and Dorothy Holmes. He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Murleen Holmes; four daughters, Laura Holmes, Tonya Arnold, Tina Lewis (Greg), and Tara McClung (John); eight grandchildren, Matthew Point (Sierrah), Danielle Byrd (Caleb), Melissa Point, McKenzie Arnold, Emma Lewis, Griffin Lewis, John Daniel McClung IV and Halle Jaymes McClung; three great grandchildren, Addison Pendrey, Joey Grace Byrd, and Finn Point. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Holmes; one son, Christopher Holmes; his in-laws, Cecil and Irene Schossow; and brother and sister-n-law, Bill and Diane Schossow.
James attended school in Laurens, Iowa. He graduated with an Associates degree in Business from Georgia Military College. He joined the United States Air Force in 1961; stationed in Seattle, Washington, he proudly served his country until 1965.
James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to travel, watch Jeopardy, westerns, and the Georgia Bulldogs. He was an avid woodworker.
