Jack Guerry Thomas, Jr.

Jack Guerry Thomas, Jr., originally from Macon, Georgia, passed away on October 3, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer. 

Visitation with family will be held Sunday, October 29th at Hart’s Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street, Macon GA from 12 pm until 2 pm. Graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, 1071 Riverside Drive at 2:30 pm following visitation.

Guerry was the son of Jack and Katherine Thomas of Macon GA. He was a loyal lifetime companion to Sharon Prosser and their daughter, Loisann.

Guerry was raised in Macon and graduated from Jonesco Academy. He earned a degree in Business Administration from Georgia College in Milledgeville. He was a welder prior to completing college and then worked for the State of Georgia Water and Conservation Department until his retirement.

An avid outdoorsman, Guerry enjoyed doing yard work with the help of his riding lawnmower, gardening, birdwatching/feeding, and sitting around his burn barrel enjoying the fruits of his labor while burning yard debris. He also enjoyed hunting when time allowed and always made time to listen to the Allman Brothers and watch the Georgia Bulldogs play football.

Guerry is survived by Sharon and Loisann, his father, Jack Guerry Thomas, Sr., a brother Mike (Angela) Thomas of Juliette GA, three sisters; Margaret (Rick) Stolz of Suwanee GA, Marianne (Joel) Mann of Statham GA and Celia (Clark) Jernigan of Greenville SC. He was uncle to eleven nieces and nephews; Alex (Brandy) Thomas, Ian (Kirsten) Thomas, Jason (Kaylyn) Stolz, Jarad (Catherine) Stolz, Nick (Molly) Mann, Mike (Danielle) Mann, Taylor Mann, Cameron Jernigan (Isaac Hartman), Clark Elliott (Lauren) Jernigan, Katherine Jernigan (Lars Steier), Riley Jernigan (Katie Kema), and seven great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Guerry’s favorite charities, which included the Georgia Wildlife Federation, The Allman Brother’s Big House in Macon, and the NRA. The family thanks the caregivers at Southern Grace Hospice in McDonough for their excellent care and compassion.
