Mr. Bob Knutson, 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 26, 2021, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was born in Ogdensburg, Wisconsin to the late Clarence Gustave Knutson and Thelma Margaret Nelson Knutson.
Mr. Knutson graduated from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa in 1951 with a degree in Engineering. He entered the U. S. Army where he server for two years in the Anti-Aircraft Missile Command. Upon his discharge from the Army, Bob joined Hughes Aircraft Company as an engineer and project manager. He worked for Hughes for over 35 years holding executive positions at their facilities in Colorado Spring, Colorado; Dayton, Ohio; and at his last assignment in 1979 as Manager of the Hughes Aircraft Company operations at Robins Airforce Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. Upon moving to Georgia, he made his home in Macon, Georgia, where he lived for the next 38 years. In 2017 he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida to be with his step-daughter, Patricia Teters.
Bob was an avid golfer, enthusiastic snow skier and a passionate reader. He took considerable pleasure in sharing his most recently read books with his friends. As a member of Idle Hour Country Club in Macon, he took upon himself the task of arranging tee times for a group of fellow members that enjoyed fellowshipping and playing together every week. In addition, until his death, was a dedicated early morning visitor to the gym where he enjoyed exercising and spending time with his many friends.
Mr. Knutson was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Arlan Clarence Knutson, his wife (the love of his life) Urna L. Knutson and his step-daughter, Patricia Teters. He is survived by his nephew, Eric Knutson, and nieces, Katherine Knutson Geary and Signe Knutson, all living in Wisconsin.
A celebration of Bob’s life was held at the Idle Hour Country Club in Macon, Georgia on February 12, 2022. His ashes will be interred in both Macon, Georgia and Ogdensburg, Wisconsin.
