Guy Thomas Roberts

Surrounded by family, Mr. Guy Thomas Roberts entered into rest on December 16, 2018. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel with the Reverend Jason Dillard officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at High View Cemetery in Gray. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St. Macon, GA 31201.

Mr. Guy was a devoted husband of 46 years, loving father, friend, veteran and syrup maker extraordinaire. He is predeceased by his wife, Betty Jean Roberts, by only three weeks. Also, he was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Ralph Roberts, of Fitzgerald. Mr. Guy served his country proudly from 1951 to 1954 with the United States Army. He was also a member of the GA Cattlemen’s Association. He retired from dairy farming but never fully retired his garden. He grew everything including corn, sweet potatoes, peas, blackberries and collard greens. He was known in Jones County for being the “greens man” and making a superb blackberry pie.

Mr. Guy never met a stranger and was a passionate war historian. He could be seen with friends and family making syrup or walking daily with his favorite dog “Bo”. He enjoyed most of all, his 2 daughters and hanging out with all his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeanene Roberts Kelly of Belmont, North Carolina and Marlene Roberts Batchelor (Rick) of Perry, Georgia; grandchildren, Amanda Manneck (Chip) Williams, Alexander K. (Manse) Manneck, Andrew T. Manneck, Elizabeth K. (Stephen) Roberts and Jacob K. Kelly; 4 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. He will be missed greatly by all.
