Gussie C. Allen

Gussie C. Allen, 102, of St. Simons Island, Georgia, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023.  The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM, Monday, October 30, 2023, at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street.  Interment will be private at Riverside Cemetery.

Daughter of the late William Paramore Capps and Ethel Lamble Capps, she was born in Macon, Georgia on October 12, 1921.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Blanche Johnston, Martha Mercer and Ethel Worsham, and brothers: Harry Capps, William Capps and Fred Capps.

She worked at Warner Robins Air Force Base before opening her own retail clothing stores in Macon and Warner Robins, Georgia. She spent her retirement on the beaches of Florida, cruising the Caribbean whenever possible and frequenting local bingo halls.

Ms. Allen is survived by her son Randy Allen (Pam), her grandson Johnathan “Jake” Allen and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice of The Golden Isles for their care and compassion.
