Gloria Woodard Neal

Gloria Woodard Neal, a life time resident of Macon, Georgia, died March 28, 2014. She was the wife of the late Marvin Rex Neal. She was the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Woodard of Macon and was pre-deceased by her parents and five siblings, Myron Woodard, Lyman Woodard, Montez Woodard, Elaine Bloodworth and Valerie Johnson.

Mrs. Neal graduated from A. L. Miller School and attended business school at Wesleyan Conservatory for one year. She was employed by the Citizens and Southern National Bank and rose through the ranks becoming the first female to be appointed as a bank officer by Citizens & Southern National Bank in Macon. She was a graduate of the American Institute of Banking. She retired from the bank in 1983 as Assistant Vice President.

Active in civic affairs, she served as President of the Business and Professional Women's Club, President of the Heart of Georgia Pilot Club, President of the United Cerebral Palsy Board and President of the American Cancer Society Board. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Northwoods Garden Club of Macon.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Joy Mizell, Valerie Franklin, Linda Garrett, Regina Taylor, George Bloodworth and Jerry Bloodworth and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express its gratitude to her caregivers at the Cottages on Wesleyan and to her special caregivers in her final days, Connie, Denise, Jackie, Mahogany, Porsha, Shelia and Von.

A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery. The Reverend John Kinser will officiate. The family will greet family and friends after the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to First Presbyterian Church in Macon or to Rabun Gap-Nacooche School.
