Geraldine Bullington Williams, a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Gray, GA, on August 29, 2023. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel with Care Pastor Chris Smarr officiating. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Clinton Methodist Church Cemetery.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert Lee Williams, her parents, Robert Morgan and Mattie Roberts Bullington, and her siblings Thelma Roberts, Ruth Henderson, Lucille Campbell, Mildred Manderson, Eunice Posey, Bobby Bullington, and Latrelle Jackson. She is survived by her son, Robert J. "Jerry" Williams (Peggy) of Gray, and her daughter, Robbie Ann Covey (Raymond J.) of Gray. Geraldine's legacy also continues through her grandchildren, Bobby Miller (Sarina) of Franklin, TN, Jason Miller of Westport, CT, Robert Christian Williams (Jillian) of Atlanta, GA, Emily Nicole Williams of Atlanta, GA, and Amy Melissa Covey of Athens, GA. She was also blessed to know her great-grandchild, Sloane Igraine Williams. Geraldine also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and her precious dog, Angel.
Geraldine began her working life at Bullington's Grocery Store in Clinton, a family business run by her father. Her passion for helping others led her to nursing school, and she served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Lynn Haven Nursing Home for 43 years. Her dedication and compassion touched countless lives during her long and fulfilling career.
Geraldine was an active member of her community. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and The Gray Travelers, always ready with her catchphrase, "I like to go!" She was also a devout member of Clinton Methodist Church, where her faith was an integral part of her life.
One of seven children, Geraldine had a deep appreciation for family and community. She was an avid gardener, her green thumb transforming her yard into a vibrant oasis. Geraldine's love for cooking was renowned; she took great joy in feeding her family, and her meals were a testament to her love and care. Above all, Geraldine cherished her grandchildren, their presence bringing her immense joy and fulfillment.
Geraldine Bullington Williams was a woman of strength, compassion, and unwavering faith. Her life was a testament to the power of love, service, and dedication. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations. She will be deeply missed.
