George Wayne Ray (known as Wayne to those who knew him best) was a truly beloved and respected husband and father, survived by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie, and his daughter Jackelyn Ray Eller.  He was absolutely adored as Pappy by his two grandsons, Benjamin and Andrew Eller. He is also survived by his brother Joe Ross, with whom he shared a special bond. Wayne was highly regarded and loved by his wonderful, close family members, both blood relations, and in laws that he always considered his true kin.

Wayne had many talents, but he enjoyed his artistic talents the most. He was skilled at the bass, the guitar, and the piano, and he was also a fantastic songwriter. He was also a self-taught painter, and his creative spirit just shined through everything he did.

George, as he was known in professional circles, enjoyed an exceptional reputation for excellence in his field of nuclear/electrical science. George held a Masters Degree in applied nuclear science from Trinity College in Louisiana. George was the utmost professional, and every class he instructed rated him very highly. George Ray was absolutely one of the smartest human beings on this planet, and he worked hard to teach and share that knowledge. He was patient, kind, and funny, and he truly had a gift for teaching. His love of nuclear science began in the navy, where he served as a nuclear reactor operator on the submarine USS Woodrow Wilson. He spent 8.5 years in the navy and was honorably discharged due to his service-related disability. He was a proud Vietnam veteran, and he had numerous awards and commendations for service above and beyond the call of duty.

In addition to his exceptional love for his family, and the talents he displayed working in his secular career, George was also called by the Lord to the ministry. He holds a Masters in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His ministerial licenses are held through the Nazarene Church and the Baptist Church. His faith was the most important thing in his life, and he loved the Lord with all his heart. It is a great comfort to his family to know for a fact he is with the Lord right now and here with us today in spirit.
