Freda Gray Hoff, age 91, of Macon, GA passed away on July 24, 2022. Freda was born on March 27, 1931 in Grovania, GA.
Freda cherished time with her family and loved to talk at length with her close friends and family; even those that she didn’t know she would soon know their whole life story as she had the “gift of gab”. She truly cared for all people and did not meet a stranger. Freda was strong, patient, generous, a good listener and great conversationalist. To know her was to love her!
Freda worked for Sam Nunn, then was a homemaker, but spent most of her working years at Robins AFB where she retired.
Freda had two daughters and was an incredible mother. She raised them to be independent, strong women and to put family first. She met her husband, Larry, at the Base and they were married for 34 years. Freda and Larry spent time traveling, watching sports (she loved the Georgia Bulldogs and the Braves), going out to dinner and dancing at the Moose Club with friends or wherever they could find Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra music. Later in her life, she referred to him as her caregiver due to the devoted and loving care he provided. Freda’s grandchildren were the biggest gems in her life and she attended most of their performances and sporting events, as she was able, and spent almost every holiday with them.
Freda loved the beach, especially St. Simons Island and St. Petersburg. She enjoyed traveling with her favorite places being Hawaii to see her twin sister, California, New York, Marblehead, Isle of Skye, Taiwan, Paris, London, and Peru. She loved spending time with friends playing Scrabble, going to the Donut Shop, and walking at the Wellness Center.
In her final days, Freda shared detailed stories of her life from childhood to present for hours with her family by her side. She revisited old memories and reflected on her life, representative of being content with her accomplishments on earth and ready to go home.
Freda was preceded in death by her mother Florence Boon Harrison who died when she was four days old and her parents Grover Cleveland Harrison and Thelma Harrison, all of Grovania, GA; her brother Willis Harrison and her sister Martha Odom, both of Perry, GA; her brother Harold Harrison and nephew Hank Harrison of Winter Haven, FL; her sister June Harris of Warner Robins, GA; her sister Laura Frances Harrison of Macon, GA; and two infant siblings.
Survivors include her husband Larry Hoff of Macon, GA; her daughters Janna Maresco (Rich) of Cumming, GA and Jolie Bailey of Sandy Springs, GA; her five grandchildren Shawna, Adam, and Alyssa Maresco and Katie Love and Grant Bailey; her sister Florence Brown of Honolulu, HI; her brother Charles Harrison (Carolyn) of Grovania, GA; and ten beloved nieces and nephews.
