Frances Smith Kite, 95, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. The Reverends Tommy Mason and Creede Henshaw will officiate. The family will greet friends after the service in the Church Parlor. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Macon Outreach at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, PO Box 149, Macon, Georgia 31202. Mrs. Kite was born on January 19, 1920 to the late Francis Marion Smith, Jr. and Annie Clyde King Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Jesse Kite, Jr. Mrs. Kite graduated from A.L. Miller High School and Wesleyan College. She was a devoted member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she was a member of the Solomon Fellowship Class. She served as a Sunday school teacher, library volunteer, UMW Circle leader, UMW President, member of the Council on Ministries, chair of the Altar Guild, Administrative Board member, and a delegate to the South Georgia Annual Conference. Mrs. Kite was a board member of Macon Outreach where she served as a faithful volunteer for 23 years. In addition, she was chair of the Permanent Memorials of Mulberry and the E.L. Brooking Endowment Tree of Life. Mrs. Kite was also very involved in the community. She served as the Secretary of The Ocmulgee Little League in 1955. She was also an active supporter of the Macon Symphony, Macon Little Theater, and the Wesleyan College Alumna Association. Mrs. Kite was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her children, Ann K. and Ken Hall of Macon, Jesse (Tee) Kite, III and Pankey D. Kite of Macon, and Sally K. and W. Coyet Lowery, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren, Clisby Hall and Robert Zarabi of Nashville, Tennessee, Kathleen H. and Tom Jones of Macon, Fran H. and Stephens Lamb of Macon, Elizabeth L. and Drew Orr of Greenville, South Carolina, Lauren Lowery of Columbia, South Carolina, Malcolm Wood of Bolivar, Missouri, and Steve Wood of Waco, Texas; great grandchildren, Jack Barrow of Nashville, Tennessee, Emily Jones, Thomas Jones, Josie Lamb, and Will Lamb all of Macon, and Ansley Byington Orr of Greenville, South Carolina.
