Evelyn Marie O’Dea Bell, 70, of Gray, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel with the Reverend Creston Groover officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. A private burial will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
Daughter of the late Michael and Ethel Curtis O'Dea, Mrs. Bell loved bowling, fishing, being in the yard with her husband, and gardening. She also loved animals and collecting dolls. She was a member of the WIBC Christian Fellowship Bowling League and the WIBC Senior Bowling League. She was also a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #977 in Macon, GA and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary # 0178 in Van Wert, Ohio. Mrs. Bell and her late husband, George, were long-time members of Immanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, George La Vaughn Bell; daughter, Krista L. Frye Dunkle; brothers, Wallace Paul O’Dea and Michael O’Dea, Jr.; and sister, Gloria O’Dea.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her children, Kelly Butt Porter (John) and Darren Butt (Amanda), both of Canada, Steven L. Bell (Deborah) and Dee Anna Gattie-Sellers (Glenn), both of Gray; grandchildren, Aaron Scott Bell ( Katrina), Kristen Bell Meservey (Chad), Brian Gattie (Elizabeth), Brandon Keith Gattie (Danielle), Amber Robinson (Tommy), Sarah Gattie Smith (Craig) Leena Gattie, Alicia Gattie, Micah Gattie, Lizzie Gattie-Sellers, Darci Gattie-Sellers, Anna Gattie-Sellers, and Ivy Gattie-Sellers; 16 great grandchildren, Luke, Jackson, Eli, Jacob, Kohen, Mary Beth, Amelia, Cade, Izzie, Lincoln, Noah, Gage, Addison, Gavin, Paige, and Ivey; sister, Bertha O'Dea Coleman (Bruce); brothers, Wilson O'Dea (Lorraine), Martin O’Dea, Pierce O’Dea (Fronie), and Arthur O'Dea (Tina), and all of Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hart’s Jones County Chapel, Hart's Mortuary and Cremation Center, 307 Pecan Lane, Gray, GA 31032 has charge of the arrangements.
