Obituary
Edward Wilson Newberry, Jr., 85, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street. Burial will be private at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
Mr. Newberry was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Edward Wilson Newberry Sr. and Willene Clifton Newberry. He proudly served his country from 1955 to 1958 in the United States Navy as a ship pipefitter on the USS Yorktown. He retired from Robins Airforce base as an electronics repairman. While working at the base, he attended Georgia College where he earned a bachelor’s in business administration. Following his career at the Base, he worked for BB&T in security.
Mr. Newberry was always seen as the ever-reliable neighborhood handyman. He was an excellent gardener, well known for his tomatoes.
Mr. Newberry is survived by his wife, Sandra Newberry of Macon; daughter, Debbie Sparks of Macon; grandchild, Maura Holland (Darryl Cowles) of Crawford County; sister, Carole Newberry of Valdosta, Georgia; and mother-in-law, Louise Boucher of Macon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward Timothy Newberry; and brother, Harry Wayne Newberry.
