Edgar Marvin "Pop" Malone, Sr, a lifelong resident of Jones County, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 after a brief illness. Services will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, March 26, 2021 at Hart's Mortuary Jones County Chapel with Julie King officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to service. The graveside service will be private.
Son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Lillian Malone, Marvin was retired from Piedmont Wildlife Refuge. He and his wife Clara travelled for many years in their camper visiting places all across the U.S.. Marvin dearly loved, cared and provided for Clara, his devoted wife of 64 years. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were sources of great joy to him. He also enjoyed rabbit hunting and quail hunting. Marvin was a jokester and gave nicknames to many loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Stokes Malone; children Eddie (Paula) Malone, Angela (Neil) Brooks, Jim (Angie) Malone; grandchildren Jesse Malone, Emily Tribble (Gabriele Mock), Natalie Tribble, Christa (Phillip) Rawlins, Trevor Malone (Ashlee Buice); great grandchildren Hayden Rawlins, Harper Rawlins, Hazel Rawlins, Addisyn Malone, Rylan Griffin, and Lillian Griffin; and a devoted dachshund, Sam. He is predeceased by a grandchild, Jake Malone. He is also survived by sisters Jane Gordon and Edna Malone and predeceased by siblings Jean Hopkins, Frank Malone, and Peggy Fowler.
