Dr. Timothy Edward Carter, 60, of Macon, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Hart’s Chapel of the Cupola. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
Son of the late Frank Edward and Geneva Legene Elliott Carter, Dr. Carter was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He received his BS in Biology at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, his M.D degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and did his residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center. He worked at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a biochemistry lab technician from 1983-1985 and as a physician/partner at Macon GYN/OB Associates from 1993 until present.
Dr. Carter was a member of the Board Certified-American College of OB/GYN, Medial Association of Georgia, Bibb County Medical Society, American Medical Association, and South Atlantic OB/GYN Society. His appointments included Department Vice-Chairman OB/GYN Coliseum Medical Center, Member at Large Medical Executive Committee, Coliseum Medical Center, Department Chairman OB/GYN Coliseum Medical Center, OB/GYN Peer Review Committee Coliseum Medical Center, and OB/GYN Peer Review Committee Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Dr. Carter was a member of the Social Shooters of Georgia, Ocmulgee River Gun Club, The Meadows Gun Club, and National Sporting Clays Association.
Dr. Carter is survived by his wife of 31 years, Annitta Carter of Macon; sister, Holly Carter of Ammon, Idaho; brother, Baron Carter of Memphis, Tennessee; uncles, Roger McGuin of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Keith Carter (Virginia) of Buford, Georgia; and nieces, Kellye Craig of Collierville, Tennessee, and Ashley Battles of Memphis, Tennessee.
Hart’s at the Cupola, Hart's Mortuary and Cremation Center, 6324 Peake Rd, Macon, GA 31210 has charge of the arrangements.
