Mr. Peterson was the son of the late Clarence E. and Myrtle Peterson, and Step-mother, the late Margaret Peterson, all of Princeton, Illinois. Mr. Peterson was born in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up on a farm near Tiskilwa, Illinois, and he loved the farm life dearly. Mr. Peterson served during the Korean War in the United States Army Medical Corp. Preventive. He later moved to Princeton, Illinois, and was employed by Sears, as an assistant manager. After his retirement from Sears, he moved to Carlinville, Illinois, where he was employed by the Illinois State Lottery. He received several awards as Sales Rep. of the year. He retired from the State of Illinois in June of 1996 and was a member of the State of Illinois Retiree Association.
Mr. Peterson moved to Macon, Georgia in July of 1996, and married Geri McManus at the Macon Garden Center, on September 7th that year. Mr. Peterson’s first wife was Eleanor Lucas of Princeton, Illinois. He had many friends in Macon, and also in Illinois.
He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church and the Woodruff Sunday School Class. He served on several committees of the church. He was a member of Coliseum Senior Group, American Legion, and he had many friends in the McDonald’s and Burger King’s Breakfast Clubs. They had such fun laughing and talking each week. His family, church, and friends were important to him. So many thanks to the English family for all they did for their dad.
Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mrs. Anna Mae Bolton of Trivoli, Illinois; step-son, John Michael McManus, of Macon, Georgia; and his two little dogs Ginny and Cassie, who were so loved by him. He called them his “little girls,” and he will look forward to crossing over the Rainbow Bridge to see them again.
Mr. Peterson will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Geraldine (Geri) McManus Peterson; Step-daughter, Laurie McManus English (Don); Step-grandchildren, Stephen English and Ashley English; nephews, Paul Bolton, of Dekalb, Illinois, Dr. Terry Bolton (Sharol), of Atlanta, Illinois; niece, Mrs. Audrey Arends, of Alta Vista, Kansas; and several great nieces and nephews.
