On January 23, 2021, Dorothy “Dot” Holton Belcher, loving wife, and mother of three children, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at the age of 81 at her home in Jones County, Georgia. Dorothy was born on May 7, 1939 in Wrightsville, GA to Harvey and Eunice Holton. On February 24, 1957, she married Bobby (Bob) Belcher. They raised two daughters, Wanda, and Teresa, and one son Keith.
Dot was a faithful member of Elam Baptist Church for over 20 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Granny. She enjoyed spending time playing cards with friends and family, working crossword puzzles, watching soap operas, shopping, and cooking for her family, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Eunice Holton and siblings Herbert Holton, Christine Edwards, Mary Kitchens, Joyce Ray, Virginia Thompson.
Dorothy is survived by her devoted husband, of 63 years, Bob Belcher, her children Keith Belcher, Wanda Bush (Danny), and Teresa Rigon, grandchildren Crissy Bush, Sherry Outlaw (Larry), Erika Craighead (Kyle), Michael Belcher (Crystal), Nicollete Rigon and Jordan Rigon and great-grandchildren Jacob Outlaw, Emily Outlaw, Haven Lee, Taylor Lee, Josh Dunbar, Waylon Belcher, Alex Belcher and Braden Craighead and sister Evelyn McCoy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 10:00 AM in Hart’s Jones County Chapel with services immediately following at 11:00 AM at Harts Mortuary in Gray, GA, officiated by Pastor Gary Thomas. Graveside services will be PRIVATE at Elam Memorial Gardens following the service. Masks and social distancing will be required.
