Mrs. Dorothy Carolyn Plunkett Bragg, 94, died peacefully on December 24, 2021, at Autumn Lane Health and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Gray, 134 West Clinton Street. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm with Reverend Randy Darnell officiating. Burial will be held at Highview Cemetery in Gray following the service.
Mrs. Bragg, the daughter of the late James Plunkett and Cora Hemphill Plunkett was born in Unadilla, Georgia on August 15, 1927. She graduated from Unadilla High School and from the University of Georgia, where she met her husband Emmett Turner Bragg of sixty-one years, who was lifelong resident of Gray. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jake, Lamar, Erle, Roy, Quenton, and Jimmy. Mrs. Bragg was co-owner and operator of Bragg Appliance Center and Gray Music Company, along with family co-owners Harris and Frances Bragg, all retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Bragg is characterized as a true Southern Christian woman. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Gray where she held several leadership roles and was the organist for over 30 years. She was devoted and compassionate to her friends and family. She was a loyal member of the Daughters of the American Revolution serving as Regent and Flag Chair for the Oliver Morton Chapter of Gray. She was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed rooting for her alma mater always wearing the team’s colors on game day. But her true colors came to light when cheering for her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was also a world traveler with boundless energy, enjoying her many treks with her husband and friends, and taking delight in sharing stories of their adventures. She was passionate about many things; she enjoyed sewing and was an expert seamstress and dressmaker, loved to cook as she coordinated numerous cooking demonstrations for the community, Bragg Appliance Center and for Amana Corporation. She nurtured and watched over many of Gray’s children as they came to swim in the family pool. “Miss Dot” clearly lived life with a strong passion, leaving a legacy of love and kind-heartedness for family, friends, and those in need.
Mrs. Bragg is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Quenton and Lynne Bragg of Carrollton, daughter Brenda Bragg Price (son-in-law Ron Price, previously departed) of St. Augustine, Florida and daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Carlo Saraceni of Brooklyn, New York. She is also survived by grandchildren Heather and (Rod) Bazarsky, Jamie and (Allison) Bragg, Nicolas and (Christa) Saraceni, Mark and (Adriana) Saraceni and Andres Price; step grand-daughters Rhonda and (Matt) Lucas and Gina and (Bryan) Busby. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Cooper and Chase Bazarsky, Bennett and Grayson Bragg, and Juliana and Michael Saraceni.
