Darrel Ray Stephens, 85, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Hart’s Chapel of the Cupola. Visitation will follow the service.
Darrel worked as a supervisor for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company for 30 years and served as a Scout Master for 15 years for Troop 5. He was an avid woodworker, and a member of the Middle Georgia Woodworkers Association and Ingleside Baptist Church. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Macon.
Darrel is survived by his wife of 66 years, JoAnn Lemons Stephens; sons, Douglas Stephens, of Macon, Georgia, Norman Stephens (Pamela), of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, and Alan Stephens (Debbie), of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Kimberly Avery of Byron, Georgia; grandchildren, Christopher and Kevin Stephens, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Elyse Gregory, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; greatgrandchildren, Naleigh and Cal Stephens, of Nashville, Tennessee; sister, Doris Winders (Larry), of Charleston, South Carolina; and brother, Donald Stephens, of Roundhill, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Okie Stephens; sister, Betty Lee Brown; and brother, Norman Stephens.
