Clyde Benjamin Richard, 89, of Linwood, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Chapel of the Cupola, with his nephew, Rick Scarbary officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior.
Mr. Richard was born in Homestead, Florida, on November 11, 1931, to the late Paul Richard, Sr. and the late Kathleen Eason Richard. Early in his working career he was a truck driver and later worked for Suddath Moving & Storage. Clyde became a master mechanic and worked for 15 years at Semi Brake Service, and then retired from Power Brake after 25 years. After retiring, he went back to work and worked for M&S Heavy Equipment for 4 years, all over the Florida area.
Clyde was an honest, reliable and hardworking man, always willing to lend a hand. He loved to travel and made many trips between Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Illinois where his favorite pastime was spending time with family.
He is survived by his stepdaughters, Lynda Goolsby (Gene), of Marion, Illinois, Hattie L Yaw, of Jackson, Georgia and Terri Kuebbeler (Jamie), of Montverde, Florida; stepson, Claude T. Orr (Theresa), of Hueytown, Alabama; step-grandchildren, James Daniel, of Thomasville, Georgia, Tammy L. Short (Ben), of Hoover, Alabama, Tracy Calvert (Heath), of Mount Olive, Alabama, Howard Brody, of Sunrise, Florida, Charlie Orr (Christina), of Lenoir, North Carolina, Lisa Qualls (BJ) of Milton, Florida and Robert Orr, of Montverde Florida; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Lillian Louise Richard; son, Ronald Clyde Richard; stepson, Charles Owen Orr; step-grandson, Charles Brian Yaw; brother David L. Richard and half-brother, George McClane.
In lieu of flowers, that family asks that memorial contributions be made in Clyde’s honor to the Cornerstone Hospice, 1300 Hempel Ave., Ocoee, FL 34761.
