Claire Elisabeth Peed Whitaker

Claire Elisabeth Peed Whitaker, 39, of Macon, passed away February 20, 2021.  Funeral services will be held at Vineville Baptist Church for family and invited friends only. Interment to follow at Riverside cemetery in Macon. The family will greet friends Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Hart’s at the Cupola from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.   
Claire graduated from Westside High School in 2000.  She then attended Mercer University and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She knew that she wanted to spend her life around young children, helping mold them to their complete potential. 

She worked as a paraprofessional for the Bibb County Public School System, including Skyview Elementary, Springdale Elementary, and Heritage Elementary. Every child was blessed to have Claire as their teacher. She truly loved each of her students and was very involved with them outside of school. She loved attending the birthday parties and sporting events of her students, and she was a wonderful cheerleader for them. She made them feel as if they were family, and was always giving them accolades and hugs.  

Claire was also a faithful, lifelong member of Vineville Baptist Church and served as a deaconess. She became a member of the church as an infant and grew up loving not only the congregation, but also the church itself. As a child and teen, she was very involved with youth groups and charities, and she quickly developed an extremely great faith in God. She passed and spread her faith to all who knew her, and she was a remarkable Christian woman. She attended church services regularly, and she spent a considerable amount of her time working in the church nursery.   

Not only was her heart filled with love for her family and God, but also for her beloved pets, Brady, Catfish, and Allie.  She loved pet sitting for other people and was a wonderful caregiver to other animals. Claire chose to spend a considerable amount of time with her family. She was a dutiful daughter and loved her parents full heartedly. Anyone who knew Claire knew that she loved her three nephews, and she was an integral part of their lives. She never missed a school play, sporting event, or a birthday party. Her family and friends will miss her tremendously, but hopefully we will all follow her example of giving loving kindness to everyone. 

Claire is survived by her husband; Bobby Whitaker; parents, Joel and Rita Peed; father-in-law, Bruce Whitaker; sister-in-law, Julie Whitaker Summer (Chad); brother-in-law, Andy Whitaker (Irene); aunts, Jane McCook and Elaine Everhardt; cousins, Jennifer Knight, Suzanne (Kevin) Fralish, Brandon (Kelly) and Brooke Everhardt; nephews, Andrew, William, and Christopher Whitaker; nieces, Carabelle and Savannah Summer. She is predeceased by her mother-in-law, Suzann Whitaker. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Claire's honor to Vineville Baptist Church.
