Charles R. Silvey, 87, died on Friday, March 26, 2021, after a long struggle with bone cancer. Charles was the son of Mozart Scott Silvey and Beatrice Ross Silvey of Fort Valley, Georgia.
Charles was a talented artist whose paintings have been displayed at the Carter Library in Atlanta and the Warner Robins Aviation Museum. You can see many of Charles's paintings online at www.artistforthestars.com
He was retired from Robins Air Force Base after 36 years as an artist illustrator.
Charles was a wounded warrior who served in the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1955. He was injured while driving an ammunition truck to the front lines. He spent many months recovering in the army hospital in Hawaii.
He is predeceased by his wife, Dorlis Cannon Silvey (42 years) and Donna Silvey (11 years). He is survived by his son, Rodney Silvey; and stepdaughter, Paula Strozier (Melton); and sister, Dorothy Hart.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the staff of Heartland Hospice as they so lovingly cared for Charles during his final days. In lieu of Flowers the family requests donations to be made to Heartland Hospice, 5400 Riverside Drive, Suite 200, Macon, GA 31210.
Graveside services will be held at Macon Memorial Park on Monday, March 29, 2021, at 2:00 PM with Dr. Melton Strozier officiating.
