Charles Edward Prickett, age 78, of Macon, Georgia, passed away January 3, 2022, after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, January 8th. 2022 at 11:30 am, at Hart’s at the Cupola.
Charles was born August 15, 1943, in McRae, Georgia, to Nellie “Nell” Mae Rawlins and Belvin Prickett. He grew up on the family farm in McRae. When he was in high school, he and his family moved to Fitzgerald, Georgia, where he graduated High School. Shortly after graduating he joined the United States Air Force and headed off to boot camp.
After boot camp he was stationed at various bases in the United States. He also served in Korea, followed by a tour in Vietnam. He was eventually stationed in the Northeast, where he met and married Miss Christine M. Thurston. They continued to be transferred around the country and on to Germany where he served several years before being transferred back to the United States and stationed at Robins Air Force Base. While on active duty Charles attended college, finishing with a Master's Degree in Business Administration. After retirement from the Air Force at the rank of Captain, Charles worked for the Macon Chamber of Commerce for a period of time before completely retiring.
Charles passionately enjoyed golfing with his sons, watching football, and most of all he enjoyed family gatherings where he always took an active role in the preparations. He took great pleasure in regularly fixing big Sunday morning breakfasts for all who could attend.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and younger brother, Ronald Brown, of Fitzgerald, Georgia. He is survived by his daughter, Michele Overend, of Athens, Georgia; her children; Wyatt and Malone Overend; son, Byron Prickett, of Macon, Georgia; his children, Max and Noah Prickett; son, Kevin Prickett, of Valdosta, Georgia; and his children, Kalei and Carson Prickett (Emma); brother , William “Will” Hamilton (Linda), of Hiram, Georgia; sisters, Pat Shrader (Bob), of Houston, Texas, Yvonne Weinstein (Ken), of Jacksonville, Florida and Tina Roper, of Hilton Head, South Carolina; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
